Today’s topic is why don’t executive recruiters return your calls. There are many reasons why executive recruiters don’t return your calls today. An executive recruiter receives requests to meet about 50 times a day; 50 resume requests, 50 interviews. Imagine yourself in that chair behind that desk, 50 meetings each day, 50 interviews a day… it is going to take up their whole day. It’s not that they don’t want to return your calls, It’s just the time holds a great value to them.
The solution is that today you need to get in front of them through another way. I would suggest that if they have a researcher, you need to go and befriend that researcher, and then they might introduce you to the executive recruiter.
You also need to get on their database. So many executive search firms, where you can enter your resume via their website and then you will be in their database. It’s all about relationship building. Another way is through a referral. If you know somebody who knows that executive recruiter get them to refer you. They can bring huge value to your career.
For the executive recruiter, time is of the essence as it is to all of us and an executive recruiter receives 50 requests to meet or review a resume each day. It’s just impossible.
